Now Accepting Grant Application

The Community Chest is now accepting grant applications from non profit (501c 3) charitable organizations that provide social, health or educational services to the community of Port Washington.  Today, the Community  Chest supports more than 20 organizations that help Port residents.

“We invite organizations to apply for a Community Chest grant to help support their programs in Port Washington,” said Community Chest President, Richard Strautman. “In these times of great need, the Community Chest is here for the people of Port  to support vital programs and organizations.”

The grant applications are evaluated by the Community Chest Budget and Allocations committee.  Grant funds are intended to provide general operating or specific program support, and may not be used for capital improvements or equipment purchases.  Grant funds awarded will be distributed on a quarterly basis beginning in January, 2011.

The grant recipients are selected based on the need for services in Port Washington; the number of people served in Port Washington; the organization’s need for Community Chest funds; the ability of the organization to deliver services, and the fiscal  management and stability of the organization.

Community Chest grant applications are due on Friday, March 26, 2010.  Application forms are available at or by calling the Community Chest office at 516-767-2121.
